Our 2024 supported charities
Transform research, care and quality of life for children with dementia so they may live long and fulfilling lives.
Every 11 minutes childhood dementia takes a life, yet most people don’t know it exists.
This week two babies will be born in Australia with a condition that will lead to childhood dementia. They will suffer with symptoms for months, years or even decades, and 50% of these children will not live to see their 10th birthday. There are no treatments, and families are left to manage the burden of their child’s care without appropriate support.
Childhood Dementia Initiative (CDI) believes in a better future for all children with dementia, and is driving world first action to change how they are recognised, treated and cared for now, and for generations to come.
By raising awareness, building evidence and collaborating with critical stakeholders like healthcare services, researchers and policy makers, CDI is rapidly addressing how systems responsible for care and therapeutic development are invested in and adapted to better support children with dementia.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to live a long and fulfilling life.
Encouraging people to take a stand against bullying, support those affected, and to speak even if their voice shakes.
Dolly's Dream is committed to changing the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide through education and direct support to young people and families.
In only four years, Dolly's Dream has grown bigger than Kate and Tick Everett could have ever imagined.
Dolly's Dream supports schools with their eSmart framework, workshops, and kindness activities, and they speak directly to parents through their newsletters, advice columns and Parent Hub portal. Dolly's Dream provides online products to families, helping with important conversations and assisting young people via workshops, digital products, and advocacy efforts.
The Dolly's Dream anti-bullying and cyber safety workshops are delivered to schools, community groups, and parents. The demand for the Dolly's Dream workshops has never been higher as teachers look for ways to support their students in dealing with bullying issues. In the last 12 months, Dolly's Dream has seen a 200% increase in enquiries, so they are putting plans in place to have more facilitators around Australia to run our workshops and reach more kids. Dolly's Dream is also funding many of its workshops in geographically isolated areas where schools may not have the funding available.
The Dolly's Dream Support Line is free for parents, carers, grandparents, and children who need help with bullying and associated mental health issues. There are wait times of up to 12 months for some country kids to see a counsellor, which is just too long to wait. Over the last year, Dolly's Dream has provided a free, 24/7 counselling service for anyone who needs it.
